Write Ellen!
Help save the Grand View and
Ozarts Center for the Arts One of our supporters came up with the idea of writing to Ellen DeGeneres to see if she would help with our restoration of the 1902 Grand View Hotel and Ozarts Center for the Arts, or even help me get my surgeries. After he wrote, Sandra and I thought that if a bunch of people wrote, she might be more likely to take notice and help. If you would like to help with our letter writing campaign please follow the link below to the Ellen show and send a letter for us.
It will ask for an address and phone number please use the following: Alexander Virden PO Box 745 302 Public Square Berryville, Arkansas 72616 870-654-3231
You can write your own letter or copy and paste this one. Thank you for helping with this important project.
Dear Ellen, Please help Alexander Virden with his important project to restore the 1902 Grand View Hotel on our historical town square and open an art center and school in the building. He has been working on it for several years with his partner Sandra, but now he needs a double hip replacement or he’s going to lose the ability to walk. The only way he can get his surgeries is to sell the hotel and give up on this important community project. He has sold off everything he has, including his home, to keep this dream alive and now lives behind the building in an old 86 RV. His surgeries are covered under VA, but he can’t afford to take the time off to get them.
This project is important for a great number of reasons, but mostly for the economic growth and educational opportunities it will bring this small town. Young people without the means to go elsewhere to pursue artistic drives often end up turning to drugs; a problem in many small towns. The restoring the Grand View Hotel and opening Ozarts Center for the Arts will bring real hope and a path for anyone with the desire to create. It will bring jobs and tourism revenue to a town with few opportunities and save an important historical landmark. For the whole story visit www.Ozarts.org. It has links to news stories, Youtube interviews with civic leaders, and our petition on Change.org, where you can see comments from townspeople on the importance of this project. Thank you.
Sincerely,
